Brown Salwood is North Queensland’s sister to Tasmanian Blackwood. There is very little property differences. Salwood will sometimes appear streakier with darker lines and more features.
The timber, just like Tasmanian Blackwood, can be used for all instrument and furniture applications. It is easy to work with while still being very durable. Has a nice tight straight grain and is very suitable for bending and gluing.
Along with other North Queensland species logs are sourced from privately managed forests on a sustainable selective harvesting cycle of approximately 40 years.
